Pre-Operative Instructions
- HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR PROCEDURE

PRE-OPERATIVE INVESTIGATIONS
- Your doctor gives you list of pre-op investigations when he explains about surgery to you.
- All these investigations needs to be done as step-1 to confirm your fitness regarding surgery.
PHYSICIAN AND CARDIAC CLEARANCE
- Fitness from physician is must prior to any kind of surgical intervention
- Your physician/cardiologist will determine which tests you will need before clearing you for surgery.
- A letter signed by your physician/cardiologist will be required at the time of your pre-op visit.
INSURANCE
Our insurance coordinator, will contact you before your pre-op visit to inform you of any fees associated with your procedure. These will be due at your pre-op visit.
5 DAYS BEFORE SURGERY
- Stop all blood-thinners, anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), dietary supplements, over-the-counter vitamins, and herbal remedies 7 days before your procedure.
- If any of these medications have been prescribed by a physician, you will need clearance from him to stop them.
PRE-OP VISIT
- One week before your scheduled surgery, you will have a pre-op visit with Doctor.
- At this visit Doctors team will review the procedure and answer your questions. You will then sign the consent form for surgery.
- At your pre-op appointment you will need to bring:
- Any x-rays or MRI scans that you have kept that pertain to your surgery
- All the pre-op investigatioin reports.
- A current list of all medications with their dosages.
THE DAY PRIOR TO SURGERY
- Do not eat or drink anything after midnight.
- Take a shower the morning of surgery using either antibacterial soap or hibiclens prescription.
- Do not use any powder, lotion, deodorant, perfume, or aftershave.
ARRIVAL AND REGISTRATION
- Please arrive promptly at the time you were instructed.
- Hospital admission is required one day prior to surgery in open/ MIS procedure
- If your surgery is scheduled to be done as Endoscopic procedure, your arrival time will be approximately 3-4 hours prior to you procedure’s estimated start time.
- If your surgery is not the first case of the day, your surgery may not start at the exact estimated time.
- Bring your driver’s license or aadhar ID and insurance information.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY
- You will be shifted to your room 1-2 hours after the procedure.
- After endoscopic procedure usually walking is started as soon as you reach your room and discharged from hospital at next morning itself.
- After MIS/Open procedure usually rest is advised for 1 day
On Day 1-2- Sitting is started
On Day 2-3- Standing /walking is started
On Day 3-4- Walking is allowed for washroom and sitting for having meals.
On Day 4- Discharge from hospital
- Ambulation with belt at home is advised for first 2 weeks following which your visit to doctor is scheduled.
1st Visit- 2 weeks post surgery
2nd visit- 6 weeks post surgery
3rd Visit- 3 months post surgery
4 th visit- 6 months post surgery
